Rules & Etiquette

One of the most valued traditions of our great club is the wonderful pace of play.  The average 18 hole round of golf takes just less than four hours.  With all of our members’ busy schedules, it is essential that we continue to make playing golf at the Country Club of Lansing enjoyable for everyone.  Our Professional Staff will gladly offer assistance to anyone needing tips to improve the pace of play.

Etiquette is another valued part of golf at the Country Club of Lansing.  The following is a list of some of the more important expectations of our membership.

  • Please allow faster players to play through.

  • On busy days, please pair up with other players if you have less than a threesome. Our Starter will be available to assist you.

  • No more than four players from Men’s Opening Day to Men’s Closing Day.

Please show your pride in this great golf course by:

  • Repairing all ball marks on the greens

  • Replacing all divots

  • Keeping golf cars away from greens and tees

  • Properly rake all bunkers

  • Informing your Guests to respect our course and its traditions in the same manner

  • Golf Spikes: Metal spiked shoes are not allowed at the Club. Only soft spikes or other non-metal spiked shoes approved by our Professionals may be worn on our golf course and practice facilities.

The Practice Range

Our goal is to provide our Members the finest range balls, turf quality and service for their practice enjoyment.

1. Cost:  There will be seasonal range memberships available for individuals and families. This program benefits anyone that enjoys practicing several times a week or uses the range before play on a regular basis. Members may also use the range on a per use basis (please notify the Starter).

     A. Guests are welcome to use the range prior to golfing, which is included in the guest fee.

2. There may be times due to maintenance or turf conditions that require the use of artificial mats.

3. The Junior Range, located behind the golf cart storage area, is available for Juniors to practice. Juniors will be expected to inform the Starter before starting their practice session.

4. Proper attire is required on both ranges at all times. Bathing suits and bare feet are not acceptable on the Junior Range. Parental supervision is required for children under 12 years of age unless authorized by Golf Staff.

5. Limited Distance: The screen that protects the 13th green is 220 yards from the middle of the main range area. It is the Members' responsibility to refrain from hitting range balls over the fence. Signs will be posted each day to inform Members of the maximum yardage allowable.  Please observe all distance signs and also please inform your Guests (in advance) of our range policies.

6. Indoor Range: We have an indoor hitting facility located in the lower level of the Clubhouse. It will be available during posted Clubhouse hours from the end of the Fall golf season to the beginning of Spring.  Video lessons will be available and will have priority (please call in advance for lesson schedule). If other Members are waiting, please limit use to 30 minutes. Children must be supervised at all times. Video equipment may only be operated by Golf Professionals. Safety is our #1 priority.
