Caddie Program

We are proud to offer our Members an outstanding Caddie Program.  We believe it is one of the amenities that truly separates the Country Club of Lansing from other private clubs.  Listed below are some of the important facts regarding our Caddie Program:

Availability:  Caddies will be available on weekends beginning in May and during the week by the third week of June.

Caddies are classified into four groups based on experience and grading.

B Caddies:

These caddies are new to the program and are expected to keep up, rake bunkers, replace divots, clean your clubs and have a basic understanding of the game.

A Caddies:

These caddies have at least 10 rounds in and are expected to do everything a B Caddie does.  In addition, repair ball marks, give yardages and have a better understanding of golf and our course.

Captain:

These caddies have at least 30 rounds in and are expected to do everything an A caddie does.  In addition they are allowed to fore caddie, should be able to assist in reading greens, club selection and assisting other caddies in the group if needed.  They should also have a complete understanding of the game and our course.

Honor:

These caddies have at least 70 rounds and are expected to do everything a Captain does.  In addition they should be able to read greens, select proper clubs, give strategy and assist in  overall support of the player.  They should also have a thorough understanding of the game and our course.

Preferences:  Please let our Caddie Master know what type of Caddie you would prefer and we will make every effort to accommodate your requests.

Why support the Caddie Program:

Taking a Caddie offers our Members an opportunity to walk the golf course along with the chance to really mentor a young Caddie.  Members can teach these Caddies respect for the game of golf, respect for each other, and how to conduct themselves like ladies and gentleman.  The Caddies also have an opportunity to earn an Evans Scholarship, which is a full scholarship to the University of Michigan or Michigan State University.  We have provided a scholarship to a deserving young person almost every year for the past 20 years.

CCL Scholarship Fund

CCL is unique in the fact that we have a strong caddie program and have benefited from having one for many years.  A member or guest who would like to make a donation to the CCL Scholarship Fund may do so by adding their donation on a caddie chit. At the end of the year a graduating caddie will be awarded the donations to use towards college.

Evans Scholarship Program

The Evans Scholarship enables deserving caddies the opportunity to attend either Michigan State University or the University of Michigan on a four year scholarship. The Western Golf Association (WGA) Par Club is a vital part in the success of the Evans Scholarship Program.

Each WGA Par Club member contributes $200 or more annually to the Evans Program. Levels of giving include: Regular $200, Birdie $300, Eagle $400 and Life Membership $2000 plus $200 for each year the donor is under 60 years of age. If you are interested in joining the Par Club please contact the WGA at (847) 724-4600, or write them at WGA Par Club, 1 Briar Road, Golf, IL 60029
